It’s been a few years since the Mississippi State Bulldogs met up with the South Carolina Gamecocks.

And while some Miss. State football fans are excited that the Bulldogs won’t be meeting up with an SEC East team like Tennessee, who had a breakthrough year in 2022, or the Georgia Bulldogs, the defending national champs, USC can’t just be brushed aside.

If Mike Leach’s team and coaching staff were still in place and he were leading things, I’d feel a lot more confident about this contest. But there are a ton of unknowns. And Shane Beamer has things looking interesting in Columbia.

Zach Arnett, the new head coach of the Mississippi State Bulldogs, should feel confident in his team’s chances against South Carolina. He has worked hard to do what he thinks is right for the direction of his program.

But I’m just a little concerned.

That said, ESPN’s FPI thinks it could be a bit of a toss up sort of situation right now.
