The 2022 college football season is just around the corner and the means Mike Leach and the Mississippi State Bulldogs will be looking to build upon the success they were able to find during the 2021 Mississippi State football season. While 2021 wasn’t always a perfect year, Leach and the Bulldogs showed plenty of promise during several stretches.

The Bulldogs are going to face some tough foes this season as they take on what is arguably currently the toughest schedule in college football.

And as it turns out, the Bulldogs are currently favored in 7 contests in 2022 by ESPN’s Football Power Index. Of course, there are a number of unpredictable elements to this, so things may not play out the way that some expect. We might look back on this at the end of the season and think that ESPN’s number crunching simulation machine was way off for any number of reasons.

Still, without further ado, here at the 7 games the Mississippi State football team is currently favored in:

ESPN FPI favors Mississippi State football in 7 games in 2022

The Mississippi State football team is expected to win 6.5 games, according to ESPN’s FPI projections, but there are a number of games that the Bulldogs are expected to win. Of course, there are several games that Mississippi State is being counted out of.

Here are the 7 games where Mississippi State is favored:

• Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. Memphis Tigers – 77.3%
• Mississippi State Bulldogs at Arizona Wildcats – 81.1%
• Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. Bowling Green Falcons – 97.6%
• Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. Texas A&M Aggies – 51.2%
• Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. Arkansas Razorbacks – 60.7%
• Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. Auburn Tigers – 52.3%
• Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. East Tennessee State Buccaneers – 99.5%

And here are the games where Mississippi State isn’t favored:

• Mississippi State Bulldogs at LSU Tigers – 31.8%
• Mississippi State Bulldogs at Kentucky Wildcats – 37%
• Mississippi State Bulldogs at Alabama Crimson Tide – 7.2%
• Mississippi State Bulldogs vs. Georgia Bulldogs – 14.4%
• Mississippi State Bulldogs at Ole Miss Rebels – 36.7%

That doesn’t necessarily mean that Mississippi State is sure to win these contests and it certainly doesn’t mean the Bulldogs will lose all five of the games where they aren’t favored. Still, it is interesting to look at.
