As Mike Leach and his Mississippi State football team get set for the 2022 season, they’ll be preparing to try to find a way to beat the Ole Miss Rebels in the Egg Bowl. After the Mississippi State Bulldogs host the East Tennessee State Buccaneers, Mississippi State takes a Thanksgiving Day trip to Oxford, Mississippi for the annual Battle for the Golden Egg.
As it turns out, ESPN’s Football Power Index is expecting Ole Miss to come out on top of this game. Out of the 20,000 simulations that ESPN’s mythical computers go through, the Rebels are expected to win this contest more often than not.
When I note that ESPN’s FPI is favoring the Ole Miss Rebels here, I’m not necessarily mentioning that in a betting sense like with point spreads and the like, but rather that ESPN’s magical computer math number simulation projections are simply expecting the Rebels to win this game against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.
According to ESPN’s Football Power Index and its many projections, Ole Miss should win this game. The Rebels get a 63.3% on this one. But, this is the Egg Bowl. Just about anything could happen in this one.
