Nebraska football schedule: 2022 Cornhuskers

Scott Frost and his Nebraska football team are searching for something that resembles success as they head into 2022. The past few seasons haven’t been all that kind to the Huskers and Frost desperately needs his team to find a way to get some wins. That won’t necessarily be easy to do, but if Frost doesn’t start winning soon, then his job probably won’t appear to be all that safe.

Frost, heading into his fifth season leading the Nebraska Cornhuskers, has yet to have anything that resembles success in Lincoln. After thriving with the UCF Knights, Frost has failed to lead the Huskers to more than 5 wins in a season.

Nebraska football fans are, uh, not always the most patient folks and, whether it’s fair or not, they’ve got high expectations for the Huskers. Rational thought and reasonable expectations often get thrown out the window when college football gets discussed and that can certainly be true whenever fanbases are desperate to see a once proud program thrive once more.

This is a program that decided to part ways with Frank Solich as he was wrapping up a 9-win season in 2003. During the first four years of his time as Nebraska’s head coach, Solich won 44 games from 1998 through 2001, including a Fiesta Bowl and Alamo Bowl. After a step back to 7-7 in 2002, Solich won 9 games in 2003 and then was ultimately canned. He went 58-19 in six seasons, but because he wasn’t winning championships, that really solid level of success just wasn’t enough.

Bo Pelini was also pretty solid during his time with the Huskers, but that doesn’t mean people didn’t have higher expectations than what Pelini was able to deliver. In total, Pelini was 67-27 during his tenure in Lincoln. But again, folks had higher expectations (and it didn’t help that Pelini had some controversial choice words for fans and administrators), so the Huskers ultimately moved on from him, despite the fact that he was a really solid, successful winner for them.

And the Nebraska football program has been a mess.

How will the Huskers do in 2022? Can Frost get some of the pressure off of him by finding a way to get some wins? Well, let’s take a look at the 2022 Nebraska football schedule:
