Pregame poll: How many games can Mississippi State win against Arkansas?

Chris Lemonis and his Mississippi State baseball team haven’t exactly always had a ton of fun this season, but it’s early and the Bulldogs have some some potential at times. The Bulldogs have had a knack for getting some impressive comeback wins as of late, including two comeback wins against the Alabama Crimson Tide and then a fun midweek comeback win over the Memphis Tigers.

So maybe the Mississippi State baseball team has figured a few things out.

Going into the next series, the Bulldogs will need to play at a high level if they hope to get a win against the Arkansas Razorbacks. At the moment, Mississippi State has a respectable 16-10 overall record and a 3-3 record in conference play. The Razorbacks, meanwhile, have a 19-4 overall record and a 5-1 SEC record.

While that’s not exactly a drastic difference records wise, it’s worth noting how good Arkansas is at home and how the Bulldogs have struggled on the road. Arkansas is 15-2 this year at Baum-Walker Stadium while Mississippi State is just 3-4 when playing away from Dudy Noble Field at Polk-Dement Stadium.

Last season, when the Bulldogs hosted Arkansas, Mississippi State had a rough time and ended up getting swept. However, the Bulldogs were able to still proceed on to the College World Series and win it all in Omaha. Arkansas, on the other hand, wasn’t able to get to the College World Series as the Razorbacks lost in their own Super Regional.
