College softball in the Big 12 features plenty of talent and some incredibly remarkable teams. The conference obviously has a juggernaut in the Oklahoma Sooners and the dynasty they’ve built, but the rest of the Big 12 softball cohort is pretty impressive as well.

The 2024 Big 12 softball season is in full swing and right now the competition is fiercer than it’s been in a while. As of April 15, 2024, the Oklahoma Sooners and Texas Longhorns are at the top of the pack in the conference standings, but the rest of the teams are not far behind.

And though the Sooners have a slight advantage in terms of Big 12 record and win percentage, Texas was able to beat OU twice to claim that series earlier this season and Oklahoma also looks a little vulnerable right now. At least relative to what the Sooners have been in recent years.

They’re still really, really, otherworldly good.

The Oklahoma State Cowgirls are currently holding on to third in the Big 12 softball standings with a 13-5 record, followed closely by the Kansas Jayhawks at 11-7. Both teams have shown flashes of brilliance throughout the season and are looking to somehow make a push for the top spots.

Rounding out the top five of the conference are the UCF Knights, who have made a strong showing as a new member of the Big 12. With a 10-8 conference record, the Knights have done well to show they certainly belong in this competitive conference. And when OU and UT end up moving out, there might be a place towards the top for UCF.

Here’s what the Big 12 softball standings currently look like:
