Another weekend of SEC competition for the Mississippi State baseball team, another weekend of frustration for MSU baseball fans.

Welp. Another weekend of SEC baseball and another weekend of frustration and disappointment for Mississippi State baseball fans. After the Bulldogs lost to the Kentucky Wildcats a week ago, MSU was demolished by the Vanderbilt Commodores this past weekend.

It wasn’t fun for anyone involved! Except Vanderbilt fans upset about losing in 2021, maybe.

The Miss. State baseball team sure wasn’t enjoying itself as the Bulldogs were crushed by the Commodores all throughout the weekend. Losing 26-3 on Friday was horrendous and then 18-5 on Saturday wasn’t much better.

11-7 on Sunday was slightly less bad, I suppose, but it still was awful.

And now, here’s how the SEC baseball standings look after a horrible weekend for the folks who love MSU baseball.

2023 SEC Baseball Standings: SEC East Standings

After beating up on the Bulldogs, Vanderbilt is sitting just at the top of the SEC East baseball standings right alongside the South Carolina Gamecocks. And if you had to guess who MSU baseball’s next opponent was, which team would you guess that to be?

Things aren’t looking great for Chris Lemonis and the MS State baseball team. The Bulldogs are just flat out at the bottom of the SEC West right now. Meanwhile, Ole Miss is hanging out with the Bulldogs and the LSU Tigers lead things in the division.

That’s just not much fun.

And of course, the Bulldogs get the pleasure of welcoming the South Carolina Gamecocks to town. That’s looking to be a lot of fun since MSU baseball was just run over by two other SEC East teams.

Here’s how MSU’s schedule works for this weekend:

  • Thursday, March 30 at 6 p.m.
  • Friday, March 31 at 6 p.m.
  • Saturday, April 1 at 2 p.m.
