The Mississippi State softball team has won its first SEC series of the season as Aspen Wesley pitched a complete game vs. South Carolina.
Hey. The Dawgs win again.
Mississippi State softball has claimed its first SEC series of the season as the Bulldogs beat the South Carolina Gamecocks 4-1.
Samantha Ricketts and the Bulldogs now have a great jumpstart to SEC play and now are presented with an opportunity to build some momentum as they try to get a sweep against the Gamecocks.
Mississippi State softball takes down South Carolina Gamecocks
This was the perfect way for the Mississippi State softball team to get SEC play underway. While the Gamecocks are struggling so far against SEC teams (as evidenced by their 1-4 conference record), South Carolina has been solid for much of this season (as evidenced by their 23-6 overall record).
And so this win is big for the Bulldogs. After a bit of a nail biter last night that lasted late into the night, the Bulldogs were able to control all of this contest from start to finish.
And of course, much of MSU’s success can be attributed to Aspen Wesley dominating against South Carolina.
Aspen Wesley throws complete game vs. South Carolina
It’s hard to be much better than what Wesley was against the Gamecocks. Through 7 innings, Wesley tossed 89 pitches and struck out 7 batters. All in all, Wesley only allowed 4 hits and one earned run.
That’s pretty good! It’s really good when considering how South Carolina has a .314 batting average and has 29 home runs on the season.
