Well, two former Mississippi State greats are apparently set to team back up. According to a report from Ian Rapoport, former Mississippi State defensive back Darius Slay has been traded from the Detroit Lions.
His destination? The Philadelphia Eagles. That places Slay on the same defense as fellow former Mississippi State great Fletcher Cox.
This will be the first time in nearly a decade that the two former MSU standouts will be on the same team.
2011 was Cox’s final year in Starkville as he became an eventual first round draft pick. Slay was part of that 2011 team, but didn’t play much. He really didn’t become a star for the Bulldogs until the 2012 season.
But now the two are set to play alongside each other again. The Eagles certainly needed some help in their secondary and landing Slay should help improve what was a less-than-stellar pass defense from last season.
