The 8th inning was a pivotal inning for the Mississippi State baseball team yesterday. But, unlike in years past when the Bulldogs collapsed, this time Mississippi State surged to victory thanks to timely hitting in the 8th.
And the star of the 8th inning was Brandon Pimentel. The 6-3, 210 pound sophomore from El Paso, Texas who transferred to Mississippi State from Howard College was clutch for the Bulldogs when MSU needed him the most.
Pimentel arrived at Mississippi State having hit 14 home runs at Howard College during his freshman year. And with the game tied 2-2 yesterday in the bottom of the 8th, Pimentel got his first home run of his Mississippi State career.
Mississippi State tweeted out a video of Pimentel’s home run. You need to see this if you haven’t already. And, well, if you have already seen it, watch it again. Because this is great.
Mississippi State and Oregon State will play game two this afternoon. The game is scheduled for 2 p.m. For information on how to watch the game, click here.
