I’m back. Kinda.

I’ve bounced around, done a few things, moved my family to a new city in a new (to us) part of Texas (they aren’t building new parts of Texas that I know of) and taken a new job. I’ve also been bouncing around media wise. In the past year, for FanSided, I moved from blogging about the Oregon Ducks to covering the Washington Huskies, and now I’m covering Texas Tech over there.

And that’s all good. But I also want to work on a few other projects as well (as time allows).

This is one of those projects.

I’ve been meaning to get this site going once again for a while now. And each time I’ve tried to focus on it, life inevitably pops up with something new. But now a lot of that new has settled and it’s time for me to focus my creativity here again (and possibly a few other places, like a separate blog, a separate newsletter, and some photography stuff, all as time allows).

So, what does that mean for The Underdog Tribune? Is it back to being a Mississippi State blog again?

The Underdog Tribune is back, kinda. And it’s going to be a Mississippi State blog again, kinda.

But it won’t just be a Mississippi State blog. There’s a few things on the backend of the site that I’m working on and that I need to clean up. But I’m launching a newsletter function here. I’m going to dive into that space a bit more. And then I’m also looking at launching a podcast here as well.

I’ve done both of those at one point or another elsewhere and I might as well do those at some point or another here.

Once I have all of the technical parts of that and the strategic content parts of that and the timing parts of that all figured out, I’ll let you know.

One big point that I want to bring up is that both of those will be free. I’m not talented or creative enough for those to be paid and I feel like I almost need to pay people to actually put up with the content that I provide them.

So those will be free, and that will be good.

Oh, and also, The Underdog Tribune won’t just be focused solely on Mississippi State.

Why are you writing about other teams as well as Mississippi State on what used to be a Mississippi State blog?

What a great question. And I don’t know that I have a great answer. Mostly, I just kind of want to. I enjoy college athletics from a holistic standpoint. I enjoy seeing the entirety of this collection of sports. And I want to share my thoughts on the entirety of this collection of sports.

There are a number of great fanbases and fun teams and chaotic traditions that should be enjoyed and I want to partake in that, if even in some sort of insignificant way.

So, I’m going all in and committing to covering other teams in a more comprehensive manner here. I know I’ve done some of that in the past, but I’m going to be doing more of that here. And this will still be a Mississippi State blog, but it won’t only be a Mississippi State blog.

It’ll also have a newsletter and a podcast. And a few other teams here and there. And I think that’s a good thing.

I need to do some restructuring on the site. I need to reorganize and renovate and get everything rolling in a way that will make sense. And it might take me some time to get everything neat and tidy.

So please pardon the dust while I rebuild things here.

It’s a process.

It’ll take me a little bit to get everything situated the way it needs to be from a site architecture standpoint, a branding standpoint, and a content production standpoint. There’s a number of things that I have to get situated.

And I’m going to be producing content all along the way as I get The Underdog Tribune going again. Things may not be the most timely. Things might feel a little clunky here and there. And I’m continuing to learn and embrace that that’s not a bad thing.
