Mississippi State baseball is struggling. The Bulldogs are off to a humiliating start at 3-4 and they’re a radically inconsistent bunch. There are moments where this team looks solid and then there’s the FOUR losses that this team has already racked up.

And just who have the Bulldogs lost to? Let’s go over that for a brief moment:

  • Air Force (by one run, that’s not too bad, I suppose)
  • Austin Peay (TWICE! THAT’S NOT GOOD!)
  • Georgia Southern (BY SEVEN RUNS. THAT’S VERY NOT GOOD!)

And while there are a lot of practical solutions that we could possibly explore here, we should go ahead and explore a number of impractical and nonsensical solutions.

Like repurposing Dudy Noble Field. I’m pretty sure that’s something we can do. I think.

What to do about Mississippi State baseball as the Bulldogs struggle?

Look, as far as I know, there’s no law that states that Dudy Noble Field 2.0 has to be solely used for college baseball. There’s nothing that dictates Mississippi State baseball is the only thing that is allowed to take place at the aforementioned venue.

So, what are some things we can do with the stadium given the way Chris Lemonis and his team are struggling?

I like AI. I use it frequently for my day job. There’s a number of different ways to use it.

So, with the help of AI, I drafted up a few ideas of things we can do with the marvelous stadium as we move away from its poorly performing Mississippi State baseball purposes.

Here are some things we can do with the ballpark, according to AI:

  1. Concert and events venue – The space could host large concerts, festivals, graduation ceremonies, etc.
  2. Community gardens – Plant gardens in the open dirt areas of the infield and warning track.
  3. Go-kart track – Install a go-kart track using the field and warning track areas.
  4. Drive-in movie theater – Keep the field open and project movies onto the big scoreboard.
  5. Flea market/fairgrounds – Hold regular flea markets, craft fairs, etc. in the spacious concourse areas.
  6. Outdoor ice skating rink (seasonal) – Convert the field into a massive public skating rink.
  7. Drone racing arena – The open infield would allow drone races and competitions.
  8. Restaurant/retail complex – Convert the areas under the stands into restaurants, shops, etc.
  9. Paintball arena – Use the field, bullpens, and bleachers for intense paintball competitions.
  10. Public park – Remove the field surface and create a community park space.

One other Dudy Noble Field repurposing idea:

THERE’S NO LAW THAT SAYS WE CAN’T CONVERT DUDY NOBLE FIELD INTO A SOFTBALL STADIUM. SAMANTHA RICKETTS AND HER MISSISSIPPI STATE BULLDOGS ARE OFF TO AN INCREDIBLE START ON THE SEASON AND THEY JUST KEEP WINNING.

Ricketts has the Mississippi State softball team at 11-2 with four ranked wins on the season so far (and those ranked wins came by an average of 5 runs a game). That’s really solid.

Yes, I’m aware that some modifications would need to be made, but it’s feasible to make such modifications. And it’s create even more lounge and tailgating space for Mississippi State softball fans.

This is all very serious stuff, you see.

We’re certainly not going to do anything to Dudy Noble Field. There are far too many people who view Mississippi State as a baseball school. But, what should we do as the Mississippi State baseball team struggles and the Mississippi State softball team thrives?

Well, we can enjoy the Mississippi State softball season. We can ensure that we’re thoroughly enjoying what’s happening over at Nusz Park. Because that’s a team worth watching. We can enjoy the fact that Mississippi State can be more than just a “baseball school.”

Enjoy the softball season as well. Because Mississippi State is a softball school too.
