The 2023 SEC softball tournament is upon us and it’s time to start evaluating the bracket. With the conclusion of the regular season for SEC college softball teams, it’s time for the conference tournament to begin.

And with the way that the SEC softball tournament is set up, all 13 teams make it in. In case you weren’t already aware, Vanderbilt is the only SEC team to not field a college softball program.

But because Samantha Ricketts and the Mississippi State softball team struggled at times this season, the MSU Bulldogs will play in the first game of the 2023 SEC Tournament.

And their opponent? Well, that’d be the Missouri Tigers.

Mississippi State and Missouri will play Tuesday evening with the winner advancing on and earning the right to meet up with the Alabama Crimson Tide.

Here’s what the 2023 SEC Softball Tournament bracket looks like:

2023 SEC Softball Tournament

Mississippi State and Missouri play in Game 1 at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, May 9. Following that matchup between the MSU Bulldogs and Mizzou Tigers, LSU and Ole Miss face each other in Game 2 starting at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, May 10.

Once that game wraps up, Texas A&M and South Carolina meet up in Game 3 at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Game 4 features the Alabama Crimson Tide and whichever team wins between MSU and Missouri.

To wrap up day two of the tournament, Florida and Kentucky play in Game 5 at 7 p.m.

The tournament continues on from there. Take a gander up above at what the bracket looks like.

Things aren’t exactly easy for Ricketts and the Bulldogs in this tournament. But that’s just part of being in the SEC. Should the Bulldogs clear Mizzou, MSU will then be tasked with taking on the Alabama Crimson Tide. And the Crimson Tide is very good at softball.

If State somehow manages to get past Missouri and Alabama, then Arkansas is up ahead for the Bulldogs. And that’s going to be a really tough test for MSU as well.
