As Mississippi State baseball gets set to host the Arkansas State Red Wolves, keep an eye on these three A-State players.
Table of contents:
The Mississippi State Bulldogs will be hosting the Arkansas State Red Wolves in a midweek game at Starkville. This is an important matchup for both teams, as everybody involved in this contest looks to get back on track.
Mississippi State is fresh off of an incredibly infuriating road sweep at the hands of the Kentucky Wildcats. The Bulldogs were completely steamrolled and MSU looked like it belonged in a different league. Kentucky is a solid team, but the Bulldogs were hardly putting up much of a fight.
Meanwhile, the A-State Red Wolves are having a rough season as well. Arkansas State is struggling and was just swept by the Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns.
Mississippi State baseball preview: Arkansas State Red Wolves
The MS State baseball team needs to bounce back before getting back into conference play. This might be a pretty good opportunity to do just that, but Chris Lemonis and his Mississippi State Bulldogs can’t overlook these three Arkansas State baseball players.
3 opposing players to watch
Brandon Hager
Hager leads A-State with a .385 batting average. He isn’t much of a power hitter, but he’s consistent and that could be a problem for MSU.
Kody Darcy
So far this season, Darcy has more RBIs than anyone else on Arkansas State’s roster with 24. Pairing that with a respectable .300 batting average and Miss. State can’t look past this guy.
Wil French
While French hasn’t been perfect on stolen base attempts, he’s been pretty good. So far this year, French is 5-6 in stealing bases. That’s something the Bulldogs will need to pay attention to.
