Mississippi State baseball heading into midweek showdown with ULM

After a series win to get the 2023 college baseball season started, it looks like Mississippi State baseball is ready for a couple midweek showdowns with the Louisiana-Monroe Warhawks.

The Bulldogs are coming off a weekend series win over the VMI Keydets in what was a fairly sloppy showing for the Mississippi State baseball team. The Bulldogs were able to still get a couple wins over the weekend and are now looking to build some momentum going into this weekend with this week’s games against ULM.

Mississippi State hasn’t exactly been playing great baseball lately, though the Bulldogs have shown the ability to score runs by the dozen. Now we just need to see if MSU’s pitchers can show up consistently.

• Jurrangelo Cijntje – Already a fan favorite because of his switch pitching abilities, Cijntje’s talent makes him an intriguing starting option. He’s also young and is one of two freshmen pitchers we’ll see start for the Bulldogs during thee midweek games.
• Bradley Loftin – The other young pitcher that Lemonis wants to get some experience during this midweek slate is Loftin, who has appeared in one game so far. It’ll be fun to watch MSU get its young pitchers some valuable experience early on this year.
• Amani Larry – So far this season, Larry has been a thrill to watch. The MSU newcomer who came to Starkville from Louisiana has a .571 batting average and 9 RBIs after just three games.

• Cardell Thibodeaux – The freshman outfielder for ULM has been productive so far and has a .444 batting average and three RBIs so far on the season.
• Shawn Dalton Weatherbee – An experienced junior from Mississippi, Weatherbee is a productive hitter and has 3 RBIs to go with a .400 batting average.
• Michelle Artzberger – A junior from Lawton, Oklahoma, Artzberger has a .273 batting average with a total of 5 RBIs so far.
