Mississippi State’s win over Texas was a historic one. The Bulldogs were able to come out and shut down a prolific offense on college baseball’s biggest stage, TD Ameritrade Park during the 2021 College World Series.
While MSU’s victory against UT Sunday night wasn’t the first time the Bulldogs got a win over the Longhorns this season, the stakes couldn’t have been much higher for either team.
And on that massive stage, two of State’s pitchers shined. Will Bednar and Landon Sims were magnificent for Mississippi State.
“Will Bednar drew the start for Mississippi State and was nearly flawless during his time on the mound. Through 6 innings pitched, Bednar struck out 15 of the 21 batters he faced. He had the opportunity to strike out every single member on the Longhorns’ roster and did just that.”

To go with those 15 strikeouts that Bednar registered, Sims struck out another six Longhorns, giving Mississippi State a total of 21 strikeouts.
In the game, the Bulldogs were able to set a CWS single team strikeout record as Bednar and Sims combined for an absurd 21 strikeouts. Mississippi State and the Longhorns combined for 32 strikeouts, another CWS record.

And the Mississippi State Athletic Department apparently wants you to remember just how dominant the Bulldogs’ pitchers were against the Longhorns. To help with that, they compiled a video of every single time Bednar and Sims struck out a Texas batter.
It was appropriately titled “All 21 Strikeouts.” Succinct. Straight to the point. A ton of strikeouts.

Mississippi State looked marvelous against the Texas Longhorns and the Bulldogs will look to continue their run in Omaha as they face off against a team that has pulled off a few upsets and made it to Omaha as a bit of an underdog.
UVA’s first game at the 2021 CWS couldn’t have gone any better for it as he Cavaliers handed a solid 6-0 loss to the Tennessee Volunteers. Now they’re looking to keep their surprising winning ways going against the Mississippi State Bulldogs.

How to visit Omaha for the College World Series: Where to eat?
With the College World Series set to start, NCAA baseball fans from all over the country will be headed to Omaha, Nebraska, to watch the country’s eight best teams play each other with the goal of winning a championship. While it’s often overlooked, Omaha is a city that deserves more credit for everything it has to offer.
I actually had the pleasure of living in Omaha for a couple of years and, despite the bitter winters, I thoroughly enjoyed my time living in the Midwest.
Omaha is a wonderful city with a great food scene, plenty of bars (especially sports bars), and a solid amount of nightlife.
There’s always something happening somewhere in town and, thanks to the size and layout of the city, it’s pretty easy to get just about anywhere you need within 20 to 30 minutes.
If you’ve got the opportunity to go see the College World Series, you should definitely take it.
