There’s about to be a lot of Maroon and White visible throughout the largest city in Nebraska.

According to a tweet from the Mississippi State Athletic department, the Mississippi State baseball team is going to be featured on billboards in the Bulldogs’ “favorite summer city.”

The billboards boast the fact that Mississippi State is back in Omaha for the third consecutive College World Series. It’s not totally clear how many Mississippi State billboard will be up in Omaha, or how long they’ll be there, but it’s a brilliant marketing strategy as MSU makes it to the CWS for the 12th time ever.

Get a look at the billboards in the tweet below:

The “back-to-back-to-back” appearances that Mississippi State mentions on the billboard refers to MSU having participated in the 2018, 2019, and now the 2021 College World Series. There was no 2020 College World Series as the coronavirus pandemic shut down that NCAA baseball season (along with just about everything else in the world).

Those three consecutive appearances in the CWS for Mississippi State make up the longest active streak in the country.

Vanderbilt, meanwhile, is in its second straight College World Series (but the Commodores are defending their national championship from 2019). None of the other competitors in the 2019 College World Series will be in Omaha this year.

The Mississippi State Bulldogs earned the right to appear in the 2021 College World Series after beating Notre Dame twice in the Starkville Super Regional.

It should be noted that Mississippi State’s billboards won’t be the only instance of Maroon and White in Omaha for the College World Series. The group that Tanner Allen called “The best fans in College Baseball” will almost certainly flock to Nebraska to watch this team compete for a championship.

This group deserves as much support as possible. They’ve took down an incredibly impressive Notre Dame team and had the talent and determination to get back to Omaha again.

They did a lot of celebrating after beating the Fighting Irish, and now it’s time to get back to work.

Mississippi State will face Texas on Sunday at 6 p.m. To view the full College World Series bracket and schedule, click here.
