The 2020 Mississippi State football season is just hours away. The MSU Bulldogs are down in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, as they prepare to take on the defending national champs, the No. 6 ranked LSU Tigers.
Both the Bulldogs and the Tigers are featuring overhauled rosters and coaching staffs, but for very different reasons.
In Baton Rouge, the LSU Tigers had to replace many of its players and some coaches due to incredible success. Over in Starkville, the Mississippi State Bulldogs had to make some changes due to a disappointing lack of success.
The Tigers, fresh off of a national title campaign, lost much of their two-deep to the NFL and to graduation. LSU also had to replace key assistant coaches. Meanwhile, Mississippi State brought in a new coaching staff, several transfer players, and radically different approaches to running an offense and playing defense.
Mike Leach is getting his first shot at competing in the Southeastern Conference this afternoon. Will the Leach era of Mississippi State football begin with a monumental SEC win over LSU?
