Saturday went really well for the Mississippi State softball team. On day two of The Snowman Alex Wilcox Memorial Tournament, the Bulldogs won big twice.

First, Mississippi State cruised to victory against UAB for the second time this weekend.

While MSU’s first win over UAB came thanks to a barrage of well-timed hits and a few home runs, the Bulldogs’ second win against the Blazers came largely due to a great pitching performance.

Mississippi State’s Emily Williams showed out Saturday, throwing a complete game en route to her third win of the season. Williams struck out eight batters, walked a couple, and gave up three hits, but she was able to keep UAB scoreless as Mississippi State won 5-0 in its first game of the day.

While Williams dominated in the Bulldogs’ first game of the day, Mississippi State used a multitude of pitchers against Alcorn State. A total of four Bulldogs threw from the circle as Mississippi State won 8-1 in its second game of the afternoon.

Mississippi State is now 15-3 after its two wins Saturday.

The Bulldogs will meet up with Alcorn State again Sunday at 12:30. Following Mississippi State’s second game against Alcorn State, the Bulldogs will face off against UT Martin.
