No. 24 Mississippi State enjoyed a huge victory to open The Snowman Alex Wilcox Memorial Tournament. The Bulldogs blew out the UAB Blazers thanks to some phenomenal hitting Friday evening.

The Bulldogs bulldozed right through game one with timely hitting and plenty of runs scored. In the 1st inning alone, Mississippi State put seven runs up on the scoreboard thanks to a combination of a barrage of RBI singles and some mistakes from UAB.

The Blazers showed some life in the second inning though and were able to cut into the Bulldogs’ lead by scoring three runs, setting the score at 7-3 in the top of the top of the 2nd.

Mississippi State wasn’t done there. The Bulldogs added four more runs in the bottom of the 2nd with three of those runs coming from Lindsey Williams’ home run.

By the time the second inning was over, Mississippi State had built an 11-3 lead.

UAB responded with three more run in the top of the 3rd, but a couple more Mississippi State home runs in the bottom of the 3rd kept this game out of UAB’s reach.

Mississippi State came out on top 16-6 in its first game of The Snowman Alex Wilcox Memorial Tournament.

Mississippi State and UAB will face off again Saturday at 3 p.m.
