Well, the Duke’s Mayo Bowl didn’t exactly go all that well for Jeff Lebby and the Mississippi State Bulldogs. When tasked with taking on the Wake Forest Demon Deacons, MSU looked completely and totally lost in so many different ways.

From the 100-yard kickoff return that Wake Forest used to get on the board with their first drive in the first quarter to the fact that Mississippi State’s offense was full of hiccups covered up on multiple occasions by KaMario Taylor’s impressive athleticism and sheer determination, this game was a mess!

It ended up being 43-29 and while there were several moments in which things looked promising for Mississippi State’s future, the game still yielded some truly frustrating results for the Bulldogs and Mississippi State football fans.

Mississippi State football fans sound off after the Bulldogs messy Duke’s Mayo Bowl loss to Wake Forest

Here’s what Mississippi State fans had to say after the Bulldogs infuriating loss to the Demon Deacons.

The game was bad! Really, really bad! Just about nothing went in MSU’s favor. And unsurprisingly, Mississippi State fans want to see a change after the way Jeff Lebby and the Bulldogs performed against Wake Forest.

I mean, I have my own thoughts on why that game went so poorly for Mississippi State.

On a more serious note, Mississippi State now heads into the offseason with a bad loss in a game that was a mess from start to finish. It truly didn’t look like the Bulldogs were ready for this game even after the extra bowl practices and time to get ready.

And even worse, the Bulldogs’ future at quarterback got pretty dinged up against Wake Forest. The whole benefit and argument for Mississippi State to compete in a bowl game after this mess of a season was centered around extra time to get ready for next year and to get Taylor even more practice time to develop in the offense.

There’s not much positive to take away from this game for the Bulldogs. They flat out lost and looked messy doing it. Here’s to hoping that this offseason and the transfer portal treat Mississippi State better than this bowl game did.
