Well, the 2025 Mississippi State football season didn’t go according to plan. After Jeff Lebby and the Mississippi State Bulldogs managed to start 4-0, the Mississippi State football team then followed that up by going 1-7 down the stretch of the season (and that featured several incredibly frustrating losses for the Bulldogs).

That said, the Bulldogs ended up doing considerably better than they did a season ago (which we’ll talk about a bit more elsewhere). For now, let’s chat about what the future of the program looks like.

Meet the 2026 Mississippi State recruiting class, an overview

Well, it looks like this batch of Bulldogs is gaining a bit of momentum. Mississippi State is heading into the Early Signing Period with a bit of momentum. Right now, ahead of the start of the signing, there are 27 prospects currently committed. That gives Jeff Lebby and the Bulldogs the No. 33 class in the 247Sports rankings.

When it comes to the rest of the SEC, the Bulldogs sit at No. 13 ahead of the start of the Early Signing Period. That said, it wouldn’t be shocking to see that (and the overall ranking) change a bit as players commit and flip and move about. We’ll be keeping tabs on that.

This is Lebby’s third signing period with the Mississippi State Bulldogs (though it’s just his second full recruiting cycle) and it’s interesting to see where some of the players are coming to Starkville from.

Where is the 2026 Mississippi State football recruiting class coming from?

Even though Lebby seemingly has extensive recruiting connections to Texas given that he’s from the Lone Star State and spent the bulk of his coaching career up to this point in Texas given his time at Baylor with Art Briles, that’s not where Lebby and his staff have focused.

The bulk of this Mississippi State recruiting class is coming from the South with Mississippi leading the way with 11 commits currently. There are 4 from the state of Alabama, 3 each from Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida, 2 from Louisiana, and then just 1 from Texas.

Folks, it really looks like Lebby and his staff are trying to build up the Bulldogs in the offensive line and in the secondary, which is something I can get on board with. I’d like to see some help in both of those areas through the transfer portal, but I’m on board with this as it stands right now.
